When we were working on Ultimate Chef, the initial design was a bit… loose. The design team spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to bridge the gap between fine dining, restaurant management, celebrities, and the order board mechanic that sustains the core loop of so many crafting economies.
At one point, I questioned our premise of fine dining. I thought we could get a lot of mileage out of a food truck. We could make timed orders… maybe fit in a little more closely with the other cooking games in our division… have a really focused, really manageable first title. That’d give us time to develop the back end and solve some issues with core social and ad API integration.
Heck, since we were going to have celebrities, I suggested we try to get Guy Fieri on board. He’s a food truck kind of person, if there ever was one.
Well, that idea was shot down. I then drew up an example logo, only in the style of a Saturday morning cartoon (for those who remember that sort of thing). If there was a way to make that idea less popular, I found it.
Oh well.
